Course Description
 More Details

Restorative Practices through HCPS will introduce targeted strategies designed to build and restore a student’s sense of community, mindfulness, and over-all emotional well-being. The restorative practices will be delivered during the time the students are serving In-School-Suspension or Class Detention for an offense. Designated school personnel will be coordinating, delivering and conducting the restorative practices while the students are serving In-School-Suspension.

The strategies for restorative practices are integrated from research-based programs such as 7 Mindsets and Social Circles and Morning Meetings. Restorative Practices are based on principles and processes that emphasize the importance of positive relationships as central to building community and repairing relationships when harm has occurred. Restorative Practice strategies are grounded in principles designed to create positive relationships, which are central to building thriving communities and represents a paradigm shift that focuses on the harm done, rather than on the rule broken, in the restoration of relationships. Restorative Practices and Social Circles are a reflective practice that encourages personal responsibility and gives a voice to the persons who have been harmed as well as those persons that cause harm.
