Course Description More Details
The purpose of this training is to revisit and reiterate? the use of standardized and dynamic assessments, and their relationship to eligibility and special education?; to reflect on? our current practices within Florida's state rules for evaluation and eligibility criteria?; and reconsider procedures and recommend alternatives to standardized assessment measures?. Participants will learn about the potential for over- or under-identifying children using standardized measures that do not meet adequate sensitivity and specificity criteria and how it impacts access to appropriate services. An overview of current tests typically used for identification and eligibility and how to integrate a variety of dynamic assessment options in the evaluation process will be presented. Participants will also receive an update about the district’s ongoing Feeding and Swallowing initiative and will learn new processes, contacts, and resources.
