Course Description More Details
The topics of this Speech-Language Pathology Program workshop are managing challenging IEP meetings and an introduction to ableism and neurodiversity and stuttering and stuttering therapy. Participants will learn how to educate IEP members on educationally relevant services provided by schools, to describe the need for IEP meeting rules to prevent disrespectful behavior from IEP team members, and to help defuse and resolve challenging meetings and refocus on student needs. They will also learn about the clinical shift towards disability-affirming stuttering therapy and potential changes in eligibility, goal development, and accommodations for students who stutter.
