Course Description More Details
This course requires daily access to at least 1 or more students, for creating, implementing, & reflecting on a two-week, Phonics unit.
**There are two required virtual meetings scheduled on Monday, September 19th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and Monday, October 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm. **
This orientation will provide login instructions, course assignments and timelines/due dates. All course requirements will be completed independently within the PDA platform. The deadline to submit all assignments is December 7th. There is no end of course meeting. The link for the orientation will be emailed a week prior.
This course will allow K-6 educators to develop, increase, and demonstrate knowledge of explicit, systematic, sequential, and multi-sensory approaches to reading instruction. In order for educators to effectively meet the needs of students with persistent reading difficulties and disabilities, including dyslexia, emphasis of this professional learning opportunity is focused on reading instruction that builds a strong, cumulative, and logical foundation of phonology, sound-symbol associations, syllables, morphology, semantics, and syntax.
